Slosh is designed for the sealing of steel, aluminium and GRP (glass fibre) petrol and diesel tanks. Tests with dilutions of up to 85% corn ethanol show no degradation or softening of the sealer, so it is more than capable of protection against the ethanol content of modern fuel in both current E5 and E10 standards.
We recommend a thorough cleaning of the tank interior with Tank-Kleen prior to application of the sealer and all previously applied sealers should be removed before application of Slosh.
This new formula is a lower viscosity (thinner) material than it's predecessor allowing for ease of movement whilst inside the tank, this also allows it to easily reach all areas not pooling in areas. Being of lower viscosity also makes it easier and quicker to pour out of the tank.
A 800ml can will treat a tank size up to 20 gallons (100 ltrs).
Tips for best results with Slosh and fuel tank sealants
Here are some tips for best results:
Do... use some nuts, washers or sharp stones as an abrasive with the Tank-Kleen solution to help remove rust and old petrol deposits.
Do... allow enough time for the tank to be 100% bone dry before you put the sealer into the tank.
Do... remove or protect anything that you do not want Slosh to seal, including plugs, fuel gauge sender units, breather pipes and filters etc.
Do Not... apply the sealer into a wet or even damp tank. It reacts with moisture and will cause a bubbling reaction.
Do Not... allow the sealer to pool in a very thick layer as this will cause the solvents to get trapped within the coating, and this can also cause a bubbling reaction.
Shelf life.
We recommend storing upside down in a dry place at around 20c. In these conditions the product has a shelf life of 12 months. Do not store below 20c as this can affect performance.
Disposal.
Allow any waste sealer to cure hard and dispose of as dry waste.
Safety.
This is a solvent borne paint and care should be taken to avoid spray mist or vapour as well as contact between the wet paint and exposed skin and eyes. Avoid at all times inhalation by using a vapour cartridge respirator. Use suitable protective clothing, gloves and goggles.
